Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry continues to offer support to local individuals, agencies and groups in the downriver area and the following are some recent examples of this Ministry's work: The Trenton Food Pantry was supported in a variety of ways: members of the congregation staff the Food Pantry on certain days during a few months a year, and on one Sunday a month ("food Sunday) collections of food are made and monetary donations are collected from church members, etc. The Christnet Warming Center at Woodhaven Bible Church is hosted on certain months. The Christnet center provides overnight shelter for the homeless from September to May in area churches. The Outreach Ministry Team sponsored a Soup Sunday and the proceeds were given to the Christnet Warming Center to provide food. Usually, a few members will participate in the Southshore Crop walk and the money raised goes to charities. The Angel Tree Project in December received names of children ranging in age of 0 to 16 from an outside agency such as Head Start. Members of the congregation took a child's name and assisted in making the holidays brighter for them. The St. Thomas Community Thrift Shop Program is fulfilling our goal of recycling used clothing and household items inexpensively and our long range goal of assisting the needy within the community.
