We are thrilled to welcome our new rector, The Rev. Erica Benson, to St. Thomas! 

She comes to us with deep roots in both Texas and Michigan. Originally from North Texas, she moved to the Detroit area in 2000. In 2010 she married her husband, Tom, and in 2013 they settled downriver in Brownstown Township, where they welcomed their son, Henry.

For the past three years, the whole family has been living in Alexandria, Virginia while she pursued her Master of Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary. Now a recent graduate, she is excited to return to Michigan and begin this next chapter of ministry at St. Thomas.

She enjoys reading, creating, and exploring the outdoors—especially on hikes. Her favorite color is "rainbows," which gives you a sense of her joyful and creative spirit. She looks forward to getting to know the community, sharing in ministry, and walking together in faith.
